Big wins for Weston Green School at ISA National Athletics

Posted: 17th June 2022

On Tuesday 14th June, 23 athletes from years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Norman Park Athletics ground in Bromley for the ISA London South Regional Athletics meeting.

There were some truly outstanding performances and we brought home a fantastic hall of medals. On the track we won year 6 girls 600m gold, year 5 boys 80m gold and bronze, year 4 girls 60m silver, year 4 girls 600m silver, finishing off with year 4 girls relay gold. In the field events we took home gold medals in year 6 boys ball throw, year 5 boys ball throw, year 4 boys ball throw and year 4 girls boy throw; as well as a silver in the year 6 girls ball throw.

Only winners from regional events qualify for the national finals, and we’re honoured to report we had an unprecedented 9 children qualify. We had less than a week to prepare for the trip up to Manchester Regional arena. After an early start and a long mini bus ride, the children were ready to compete against the best in the country in their different events. There was some tough competition, but we brought home 2 silvers in the year 5 boys ball throw and the year 4 boys ball throw.

We are so immensely proud of all of the children and their achievements.
