There is little more joyful than an Early Years sports day! ‘On your marks, get set and go’ but where they ‘go’ is often anyone’s guess – straight to their adoring parents, back to their class, in a different direction altogether?! Well, we had none of that this week! Our very excited children did their very large audience, of parents, siblings, Nannies, grandparents and the rest of the school, proud. The whistle blew and they ran their socks off (this did actually happen!) crossing the line to be greeted by the brilliant Year 6’s who made each and every child feel like a champion. Sprints, hurdles and obstacle courses were tackled, bean bags were balanced and cheering was plentiful in supply. Reception competed for their House teams for the first time, wearing their House colours with pride. The rest of the school ensured they felt part of the bigger team with high fives and personal congratulations to all.
It is often easy to overlook the age and stage of these children so to wait their turn, take on board multiple instructions, cope with the noise and excitement to complete their races and cross the line with a big smile on their face is no mean feat.
Well done to all in Early Years and a huge thank you to the Year 6 ambassadors, Mr Morgan and Mr Sheridan for all their hard work making sport for Early Years such a success.
