This half term, we have placed a significant emphasis on safeguarding, partnering with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) to deliver a series of impactful events. These initiatives aimed to educate and empower our children in Year 2, Year 5, and Year 6, focusing on child safety and the importance of communicating with trusted adults.
Assembly
The programme began with an interactive online assembly conducted by the NSPCC. During this session, the children learned about the importance of their own safety and the vital role that trusted adults play in their lives. The assembly was designed to be engaging and informative, ensuring that the children could understand and retain the crucial messages being shared.
Safeguarding Initiatives: NSPCC Display
Following the assembly, our pupils channelled their creativity into creating an NSPCC display. This display, now showcased in our main corridor, highlights the essential messages from the assembly. We invite all parents and visitors to come and take a look. The display serves as a visual reminder of the lessons learned and reinforces the importance of child safety every day.
Interactive Workshops: Empowering Our Students
The NSPCC team came into school the following week to conduct in depth workshops with our children. These interactive sessions provided invaluable insights and practical strategies on how children can protect themselves and seek help if needed. The workshops were tailored to the different age groups, ensuring that each child received age-appropriate guidance and support.
Ensuring Safe Learning Environment
These enriching experiences are so important for our children’s growth and well being. By prioritising these safeguarding initiatives, we ensure our pupils have the knowledge and confidence to stay safe. At Weston Green, the safety and well being of our children are always at the heart of what we do, and we’re dedicated to providing them with every opportunity to learn and thrive in a secure environment.
