Weston Green School Embraces Green Commute Day
At Weston Green School, we are proud to promote sustainability and encourage eco-conscious behaviours among our community. This week, we celebrated Green Commute Day, an initiative aimed at reducing our carbon footprint by encouraging students, parents, and staff to make their journey to school in environmentally friendly ways. Whether by walking, scooting, or cycling, the Weston Green family showed incredible enthusiasm for greener, healthier commutes.
We were delighted to see so many members of our school community taking part in this important event and we really enjoyed seeing all the photos of children and families walking, jogging, scooting, and cycling to school!
A highlight of the day was our Headteacher, Mr Brown, who took on a personal challenge – documenting his impressive 3-hour walking commute to school (followed by the 3 hour return journey later that afternoon and evening)! His journey to school, which you can watch in the video below, serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact we can all have when we make sustainable choices. From scenic countryside paths to empty town streets and even a couple of railway stations along the route, Mr Brown’s trek exemplified the spirit of the day, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to reducing pollution.
Thank you, together, we are making a difference, one green commute at a time.
