As children enter the Upper Prep, the timetable takes on some differences from the Lower Prep experience. Firstly, there is a wider variety of specialist teachers for subjects including science, Latin and humanities in addition to computing, music, art, drama, French, sport and yoga already offered in Lower Prep. Secondly, there are dedicated sessions for 11+ prep including verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, as well as working with a responsive programme ‘BOFA’ which develops spelling and grammar skills, as well as mathematical skills, to individual requirements.
In Upper Prep, we prepare our pupils for their 11+exams, but we also know that we have a duty to prepare our pupils for life after the 11+ too, and, through a variety of experiences, we aim to equip them with a range of life skills. Beyond the curriculum, each year, pupils enjoy an Upper Prep production, a residential trip, and in their final year, an entrepreneurial business programme.
When our Upper Prep pupils leave us, they do so with a gracious confidence to continue to question, explore and learn.
