World War II Workshop – Year 6

Posted: 4th October 2022

Our Year 6’s were evacuated to Chertsey! They soon found themselves in the safety of The Chertsey Museum where a variety of activities awaited them. Drawing on their enquiry skills, the children studied an array of war artefacts, including helmets, masks, identity cards and even a black out curtain. Analysis of a local map demonstrated bomb patterns and the damage suffered in the local area.  The children also had an insight into the severity of rationing, black outs and air raids. Finally, a look at propaganda posters showed the importance of the war effort on the home front.
