Mixed Football Festival

Posted: 28th November 2022

On a wet and wild November afternoon, Weston Green had the privilege to travel to Ewell Castle for a mixed football festival for the first time. With the emphasis on inclusion and enjoyment, rather than the result it was fantastic to see boys and girls competing equally on the football field, and shows the continued strides that we as a school are making to enable all children access to our sports. There was still strong competition in the matches, with the girls showing determination and ferocity in the tackles, and the boys demonstrating their passing and dribbling skills. This festival was a wonderful occasion for the children giving all of them a valuable experience in different ways. For the girls, offering them the chance to play in their first football festival, for the boys, using their previous experiences to lead and support the girls demonstrating an outstanding team ethic. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the festival had to finish early, but that did not stop the children having smiles on their faces at the end.

A very big well done to Lucy who was selected as our player of the festival by our hosts as well as excellent performances by Oscar, Theo, William and Charlie.
