Sports Success

Posted: 7th March 2023

What a week of sport at Weston Green School. We started off hosting our first ever year 2 netball tournament, inviting other local schools. It was the first time most of the children had ever played in a netball match. The afternoon started with some coaching activities for all. Developing our basic netball skills. Then all the teams got to play each other. After some very close matches, Weston Green White team were the eventual winners, with Claygate Primary in second place.

On Friday we also hosted the ISA London South mixed hockey tournament. This is a very popular and competitive tournament, and is one of the few occasions our boys and girls get to compete together at the top of the school. There was some excellent hockey on display, with Radnor House Sevenoaks narrowly defeating Lingfield prep in a tense penalty shuffle shoot out. Weston Green were proud winners of the bronze medal, after a hard fought playoff. Finally, we had 3 history makers who for the first time represented  both Weston Green and London South in the ISA cross country national final. Just qualifying for this was a huge achievement. Our runners did themselves proud, competing for both their school and their region. Well done all.”
