We are delighted to share the outcomes of our recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, which has recognised the exceptional quality of education, leadership and care at Weston Green School. The inspection, which took place in March 2025, focused on how effectively leaders implement the curriculum and school values to support pupil development, wellbeing and academic success. Inspectors praised our holistic and inclusive approach, highlighting how our staff’s deep understanding of children’s learning stages contributes to an inspiring and nurturing environment for all.
A Significant Strength in School Leadership and Values
One of the standout outcomes of the inspection was the award of a Significant Strength, an accolade given to fewer than 1 in 10 schools. This recognises our inclusive ethos and the way in which children are supported to feel valued, confident and empathetic. Inspectors commended our leadership, stating that staff demonstrate “a deep understanding of pupils’ needs and stage of learning and development” and “have developed a holistic approach to implementing a curriculum and school values.” This enables pupils to “make positive choices about their learning, their behaviour, their aspirations and their future lives.”
Excellence in Academic Curriculum and Teaching
The report highlighted the strength of our academic provision, noting the breadth and balance of our well-structured curriculum and the high subject knowledge of our teachers. It was especially pleasing to see recognition of our commitment to developing future-ready learners through critical thinking and problem-solving:
“Teaching enables pupils to develop their skills in critical thinking. Through questioning, reasoning and analysis pupils apply the knowledge they have learned to deepen their understanding.”
Our innovative SkillQuest programme was also praised for providing meaningful learning experiences that connect academic learning with real-world understanding:
“SkillQuest provides a purposeful context in which pupils develop their economic understanding and social responsibility.”
Outstanding Pastoral Care and Pupil Wellbeing
Our strong pastoral care provision was widely celebrated. Inspectors noted that pupils behave exceptionally well and show respect, empathy, and emotional awareness. Children at Weston Green understand how to manage their emotions and resolve conflicts constructively, supported by staff who model positive, respectful behaviour.
“Pupils are consistently welcoming and polite. They recognise how the value of kindness helps them to be confident in making choices about their behaviour and in guiding how they treat each other.”
Nurturing Early Years Foundation Stage
In our Pre Prep, the inspection highlighted our nurturing and enriching environment where children thrive both socially and emotionally. Inspectors found that our youngest learners develop independence, confidence, and strong social skills through well-designed, purposeful activities:
“Children in the early years develop confidence and independence because they understand the routines and staff are responsive to children’s needs.”
A School Community to Be Proud Of
We are immensely proud of this report and all that it represents – a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff, the vibrancy of our pupils, and the support of our parent community. You can read the full ISI report here.
Together, we remain committed to delivering an enriching, values-led education where every child can flourish.
