Our Bright Beginnings curriculum for our nursery pupils is our way of laying the best possible groundwork our pupils. During this time, we use play to engage children in the basics of learning. 🚣Year 5 Team-Building, Sailing and Hog-Hunting! 🚣
🌤 Earlier this term, our Year 5s embarked on an exciting week of sailing, raft-building and other coastal activities as they enjoyed a (mostly) sunny week on the south coast.
⚓ They had a fantastic time working together to get themselves afloat on self-built rafts, as well as learning the basics of sailing and sea-safety.
🦀 Wholesome afternoons were spent on the beach, crabbing and building sandcastles and they even went out in the dark to hunt for hedgehogs, moths and spiders!
What a brilliant way to start off the school year and build on friendships, old and new.

🏰 Kings, Queens & Castles 👑
Our young Year 1 historians stepped back in time on an exciting quest through the medieval castle! ⚔️📜
Through a fascinating workshop led by @freshwater_education, the children discovered what life was really like inside a castle, exploring the roles of the kings and queens, knights, servants, cooks and other people who lived and worked there. They learned how castles were used, what daily life was like and how different people contributed to keeping a castle running. 🏰🛡️
Through teamwork, problem-solving and hands-on activities, they put their historical knowledge to the test and successfully completed their mission! 🎯
And their reward? They officially became Knights of Knowledge! 🏅⚔️
A fantastic morning of history, discovery and learning through adventure! 🌟

As Years 5 and 6 set off for OCs this afternoon, there was a definite late summer feeling in the air. The season may have officially changed but so far the weather is clinging on.
The unseasonal weather isn`t lost on Mr Sagar, who was keen to get going and make the most of another warm, dry afternoon on the astro!
But, whatever the weather, an enjoyment of sport and time spent outdoors is embedded into life at Weston Green and even a bit of rain won`t put a stop to that!

Well that was an eventful Monday morning! But despite an unexpected start, the Weston Green community pulled together and adapted to the situation as it developed to ensure the best outcome for our pupils.
06:30 - Early this morning, a burst water main left much of #Molesey #Sunbury #Esher and #ThamesDitton without water.
07:23 - With the school unable to operate safely without water, parents and staff were informed that it would remain closed until further notice.
07:30 - Our teachers responded quickly and uploaded lessons to the digital classroom for the children to complete at home.
10:30 - Water was restored to the school and following some essential checks we were pleased to inform parents that children could return to school from 11:45am with the rest of the day running as usual.
Thank you to everyone who was impacted by the school`s temporary closure this morning for your responsiveness and patience. There`s never a dull moment in a school but when you`ve got a brilliant team in great community it makes the surprises much easier to tackle.
Fingers crossed for a less eventful start to tomorrow but I think we`ll be keeping our phones on loud... just in case!

What a fantastic start to the year for our Year 1 pupils!
🤖They have been exploring the fundamentals of coding and computational thinking through an entirely screen-free, interactive experience. Using Sphero indi programmable robots, the children designed and built their own mazes, utilizing color card programming to navigate the cars.
🧠 This hands-on activity is a brilliant introduction to cause-and-effect, critical thinking, and early teamwork, proving that you are never too young to start problem-solving like a scientist!

Year 4 pupils have been busy in our new Art Studio as they begin a fascinating topic on sea scapes.
🍴 Studying the work of Alice Kettle, the children experimented with different tools to make sea, water and waves
🌊 Later in the term they will add embroidery to complete their finished sea scapes
🖌️ Our lovely Art Studio provides all our pupils with the perfect space to experiment and learn different techniques under the expert supervision of our Head of Art, Mrs Russell.
